Mary Bernheim
Mary Bernheim (maiden name Hare; 1902–97) was a British biochemist who obtained her doctorate at Cambridge University. While a graduate student, she discovered the enzyme tyramine oxidase that was later renamed monoamine oxidase (MAO).
In 1930 she became a member of the original faculty of Duke Medical School, and in 1962 was promoted to full professor.
She authored over sixty papers.
